I am Margaret A King, a Picture Taker. Through my lens I capture the natural world especially the portraits, expressions, and styles of animals who live in my backyard and in natural habitats everywhere. I started taking photos about 5 years ago of the flowers in my yard and soon after began taking photos of the animals.
I am self-taught but also have been fortunate enough to meet many talent photographers who were willing to share their knowledge and expertise with me. Through their mentoring and encouragement I have learned "some" of the basic principles of photography and have exhibited my work in brick and mortar galleries as well as online galleries.
Most of my education and experiences are in the area of child development and early childhood education teaching young children and adults. Through my experiences learning about and teaching young children I became an astute observer of behavior. I take those observation skills with me as I photograph the natural world, especially animals. As an observer and learner I believe that I have a a unique way of seeing the natural world which encouraged me to develop a fascination with animals and their expressions, styles and responses to their environment.
I will write a blog each week sharing pictures and interesting tidbits. I hope that you will join me on this new adventure and let me know what you think.
